Transformers DVD & Video

While it's nowhere near official, Transformers Animated Season Three may be hitting DVD sometime soon. Amazon has put up a product page for the set, but there is not a pre-order in sight. However, we can hold out hope and just wanted to inform you about it. Don't get your hopes up too much at this point, but we'll let you know when more information comes from this. See the listing at

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen hit the home media circuit on October 20th on DVD and Blu-ray formats and has hit a large milestone already. According to an analysis from
Home Media Magazine, 7.5 million copies were snatched up from retailers in the first week of the film's release on home media. This makes the film the top selling DVD of the year. 1.2 million of those copies were on the Blu-ray format. The film sold
two (2) million copies on its first day in stores, 500,000 of them on the high-definition Blu-ray Disc format.

We
reported previously that Michael Bay's site has reported four (4) million copies of the Revenge of the Fallen DVDs, Blu-ray included. When there have actually been about half that. According to the Hollywood Reporter,
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen sales on the first day of release were two (2) million DVD Blu-ray discs.

OK, so there's about 50 gazillion different copies of this DVD/Blu-Ray film out. I picked up the Target BBcase, and so far found 2 easter eggs on the special features disc. Anyhow, if you've found more, here's the place to list what you found and what set you found them on.

According to Michael Bay's official website administrator, the
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen sold four million (! -ed) copies of the film on DVD and Blu-ray. This figure is unconfirmed, but to back up his claim, "nelson"
says he has received emails from individuals in Los Angeles, Chicago, New York City, and Houston who were going to purchase the home media at their local retailers only to find them sold out. Have you encountered this at your own local store, too? Let us know!

Paramount Home Entertainment has posted a new video giving us a look at the Augmented Reality special feature on
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen DVD and Blu-ray. The video shows more of the Matrix of Leadership and equipping weapons on Optimus Prime. Take a look at the video at

Bay's forums admin, Nelson, has posted some details about the Transformers Revenge of The Fallen Blu-ray SteelBook and Imax releases that will be coming 10/20. Word is the Steelbook will only be at Fye in the USA, Future Shop will be carrying them in Canada. Nelson will be offering of these for sale on the site. In further promotion of the release of
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen on DVD and Blu-ray on October 20th, Paramount Home Entertainment has provided
SciFiCool a clip of a feature that will be included in the special features section of the DVD release. The feature surrounds the Transformers mythology and how it influenced the stories being told in the blockbuster sequel. Check out the clip embedded after the jump!

The IMAX footage that
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen Director Michael Bay said he would
put in the Blu-ray edition of the film will be a WalMart exclusive. "I spoke to Paramount today and here's the lowdown on the Imax TF2 release: Walmart will have exclusive rights on selling the [
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen] (w/ Imax) on DVD and Blu-ray," nelson, administrator of Mr. Bay's official website, writes. The director had previously said in an interview that they are "going to do a special IMAX skew where it’ll open up for those scenes. You can see top to bottom."

In anticipation of the upcoming release of
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen on DVD and Blu-ray on
October 20th,
SuperHeroHype! and
Collider have both received exclusive clips of special features that will be available on the bonus discs. The videos focus on the filming at the pyramids in Giza, Egypt and action sequences in the film, respectively. Visit the websites to see the videos, or view them embedded after the jump.
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen Director Michael Bay is offering a two-fer on his website: buy a copy of the film on
DVD or Blu-ray through
his official website and have all proceeds donated to the Make A Wish Foundation! Each copy, available in both two-disc Special Edition and Blu-ray versions, purchased from now until October 16th will be personally signed by Mr. Bay. The two-disc is available for $40 USD ($45 USD for International orders) and Blu-ray for $50 USD ($55 USD for International orders).

Thanks to our friends over at the Cybertron Phillipines, we have new looks at the
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen Transforming Bumblebee DVD case. The images show the transformation sequence of the case and the interior of the case. The site has also
posted a video giving an animated look at the transformation of the case.
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen comes out on DVD and Blu-ray on October 20, 2009 in the United States.
The Future Shop has posted images of the
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen Blu-ray Steelbook case. The retailer seems to be the exclusive carrier for Canada. FYE
will be carrying this in the United States. The reverse side of the case has a rather cool design, with Cybertronian symbols dotting the white background. The inside also continues this design, albeit a darker background.

Tomy Takara has updated their
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen micro site to detail the release of the film on DVD and Blu-ray disc on December 18, 2009. On top of that, the site also details that Amazon Japan, Tsutaya, and Lawson will be receiving exclusive repaints along with the releases.

Paramount Home Entertainment has released a video providing a first look at the augmented reality feature that will be available on the
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen Two-Disc and Blu-ray DVD packages. The technology that will allow owners to interact with a holographic image of Optimus Prime utilizing their webcams and a special website. Read more.

Paramount Home Entertainment will be releasing a special gift set that will include both
Transformers and
Transformers Revenge of the Fallen. There will be a 4-Disc Gift Set for Blu-ray and 2-Disc Gift Set for DVD. At this time we don't have any details on whether these discs will include any features not included on the individual releases of these movies. Look for the Blu-ray version to be released on November 3, 2009 and the DVD version to be released on October 20, 2009.

Now you can relive the excitement of Season Two when Shout! Factory, in collaboration with Hasbro, Inc., unleashes THE TRANSFORMERS: Season Two Volume One 25th Anniversary Edition DVD box set on September 15th. A must-have for any Transformers fan, this 4-DVD set contains the first 28 episodes from the second season of The Transformers in the order they were intended, including many fan-favorites.

Similar to the transforming
Megatron and
Optimus Prime DVD case for
Transformers, Paramount is once again use this gimmick for
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, but this time, it will be Bumblebee. UK-based retailer HMV will be receiving the exclusive for the
standard 2-disc and
Blu-ray versions of the DVD. It is unknown which store will receive these exclusives in the states. The DVD will hit US store shelves on
October 20th, and November 31st in the UK, according to HMV.
