So, you might be wondering, what does Masterpiece Star Saber do with its sword when it's not being used? Well, in the most recent installment of Hisashi Yuki Hates The Fandom's Finances, he shows us it's the very same thing the original did, using slots in the frame of the V-Star to accommodate the blades. We're not sure if it has the fancy grab-and-draw function, but we have learned a smaller version of the sword is going to be included, presumably for better use with Saber himself when he's not all dressed up. Having been floating around somewhat nebulously since their original discovery, the two multipack Protectobot recolor sets are finally nearing a release. Thanks to Come, See Toys we have official images by way of Hasbro Singapore of the two-pack Hot Spot and Blades, and three pack First Aid, Groove, and Streetwise. Amazon has also opened preorders for the latter set, noting availability on October 1st and calling them an "Asia Kids Day" set. So while these seem made for the Asian market, it looks like fans elsewhere will have a chance at them, if the two-pack also appears on Amazon soon.
Thanks to Hobbybase who have posted new in-hand images of the TakaraTomy Transformers 4 Lost Age LA-13 Battle Attack Nemesis Prime figure. Get a look at the recolor of the Power Attackers Optimus Prime figure mold in the robot and vehicle modes for the full details on this figure.
Hisashi Yuki either wants us to die of longing before March comes around, or is trying to make us sick of Star Saber first. The barrage of photos continues, but even for as many shots of the figure standing in place as come through, I can't help but enjoy seeing them. Though the images we're seeing currently reflect a hand painted sample, being a Masterpiece toy we should expect the final production version to look just as good! For your next regular dose of Star Saber, keep reading!
Licensed merchandise has always been a rough territory, and Age of Extinction proves no different. A character watch obtained by Transformers Colombia member Edward Jonathan Elizalde proves this quite well, by presenting what would very much like to be the face of Lockdown, but more comes off as a generic robotic skull face with a buzzcut. However, if the novelty of having something vaguely like a Quintesson Death face on your watch is appealing, keep an eye out, as they'll probably find their way to Ebay for years to come! Autobase Aichi has posted a set of catalog images from the recent Lost Age toy releases, and one of them is a fresh look at Advanced Series Ultimate Optimus Prime. AD-31 is an extensively painted and extensively remolded version of TF4 Generations Leader Optimus Prime,
making it the most movie-accurate transforming toy of everyone's favorite victim of Space PTSD. Keep reading to see the images!
That was fast, huh? YouTuber OptimusPrimeSG has posted a review of MP-20 Wheeljack, Like the other Autobot Car Masterpieces, Wheeljack does a really solid job of turning a real car into a likeness of the animation model, and seems to have really great articulation at that. Keep reading to see the review!
Tom Scioli sat down with Max Robinson of Deadshirt.net at the Small Press Expo to talk about his work on The Transformers vs. GI Joe
, his influences, his goals, and how success has put more eyes on his work at both Hasbro and IDW. Scioli is a smart guy with a good eye for comics and their history -and as usual, it shows in this interview. Keep reading for excerpts and a link to the full conversation!
If, amid all the front side shots of MP-24 Star Saber you've wondered what might be happening on the far side, let it trouble you no more! Hisashi Yuki has set out yet again to make the time between now and March 2015 seem to drag out even farther with the latest teaser pic, now showing off the super robot mode's backside. Well, it's all in the name of science! Check out the full size rear view of Star Saber below!
Sarah Stone has shared the "clean" version of the third of her 30th Anniversary retailer incentive Transformers covers. From TakaraTomy's website, we have updated looks at the Japanese release versions of Tailgate and Swerve, and Brainstorm. Previously seen in mockups based on Hasbro product, these small photos now depict the Legends-version deco, with darker metallic colors on Swerve and Tailgate, and a general increase of paint work on Brainstorm, both for greater original toy accuracy, and just general enhancement. Keep reading to see both (unfortunately small) images!
Thanks to TFSource for sharing with us that Fansproject confirmed to them that Sigma-L, the long-awaited fourth figure in the popular Function-X line will ship next week. TFSource expects to have these in hand and ready to fill preorders late next week or early the week after. With nearly a year between Smartrobin, the previous Function release and the impending release of Sigma-L, we very much hope that Not-Skullcruncher, the last of the initial five designs revealed in summer 2012 will follow rather more quickly - and clear the way for the next batch teased at this past TFCon!
Site sponsor TFSource has posted new images from Mastermind Creations showing Zinnia, the recolor of their Cybertronian-style Arcee homage figure based on the Paradron Medic from the G1 cartoon. The figure has been designated R-08Z, and is currently expected to ship in November. Keep reading to check out the mirrored promo shots showing the super articulated Reformatted Series figure!
