Pretengineering - The Starting Point For New Transformers

Hasbro Pulse's Instagram account has an interesting little feature today, an image depicting a process they call "pretengineering" or "pretend engineering." This seems to be their catchphrase for the very early parts of developing new Transformers, before going to prototyping, where things like the movable parts, gimmicks, and special design details are all plotted out in lineart to explore the form the designers would like the toy to take as it moves in to the physical design stage. The subject model here seems to be an early iteration of the Cyberverse line's Megatron, which really goes to show how far the development cycle can go from initial idea to realized toy.
