Rook - Generation 1 - Exclusive Figure

The original TF named Rook was the timid second-in-command to the sadistic Decepticon commander Jhiaxus in the Marvel G2 comic series. Then in 2002, the name was reused for not one, but two new toys! The first Rook toy was one of the Mini-Cons that came with Sideways and the second was the Botcon Europe exclusive toy, which will be reviewed here.

Car Mode: A recolour of the Windcharger keychain released by Fun4All, Rook is a Pontiac Firebird Trans Am. Light grey with blue windows, metallic silver hubcaps, and chrome grille, he measures a diminutive 6.5 cm(2.5") long. His oversized rear wheels indicate that he is built for serious speed. A small Autobot sticker is plastered on his hood and a ring juts out from beneath his grille for attaching the keychain.

Transformation: Arms slide out from the sides, legs swing down from the rear.

Robot Mode: Rook stands about 7.5 cm(3") tall at the head in robot mode. His torso is black, his shins are chrome, his faceplate is metallic silver, and his visor is blue. A second Autobot sticker is plastered on his chest. He's articulated at the shoulders and knees, which is reasonable for an Autobot mini-car. Unfortunately, he has a tendency to fall over backwards. Also, the ring on his head looks rather silly in this mode.

Overall, Susp Sez: While I was really hoping that the BC Europe exclusive would be Devcon, Rook is a neat little fellow. Be nice once 3H gets around to releasing his bio and tech specs. 8/10
