Transformers 3 to Be Post Converted Into 3-D?

By bwbm on Wednesday, February 03, 2010

Earlier last month, we reported that Michael Bay and Steven Spielberg were having a battle over whether or not Transformers 3 would be shot in 3-D, and Mr. Bay seemed to be losing at that time.

Well, according to Variety, it seems like Mr. Bay is getting closer to losing this battle; however, it seems like time is not on Mr. Spielberg's side with the July 1, 2011 release date for the film set.

In comes Stereo Pictures, a South Korean production studio, whose American arm is currently working on converting Cats and Dogs 2 into 3-D.

Sung Young-seok, President of the company, says that the company is currently in talks to convert three other films, one of them being Transformers 3, reports Variety. The article does not directly quote Young-seok.

Variety reports that the biggest stumbling block for Industrial Light & Magic, Paramount Pictures, and Mr. Bay is the extra time required to develop 3-D visual effects, and suggests that this post-filming conversion could help alleviate the time constraint.
