As you know, the "Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen" filming crew is
making a pit stop into the Washington, D.C. metro area at the Smithsonian's National Air and Space Museum Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center in Chantilly, VA.
Well, TFormers now has an exclusive report for you providing images and first-hand information for you regarding the shoot!
Friday night, I decided to drive over to the Udvar-Hazy Center to see what was going on. It was still too early, unfortunately, and some IMAX showings were still in progress. However, I saw the following sign:

Beyond that sign was a crane camera (a trademark of Director Michael Bay) and some guys chatting it up. As I drove around the area, I saw E7^2 signs all over the place pointing into a certain direction, which I "accidentally" turned into.
It was too dark to see anything, but by the time I even tried, I was kindly directed to turn back around.
Alas, I drove home a little unfulfilled, but my friend Akhil called me this afternoon to tell me they were filming right inside the main hall of Udvar-Hazy and he was feet away from Shia LaBeouf and Megan Fox!
He provided me some images, including images of the SR-71 Blackbird, which has been revealed to be Jetfire's alternate mode, that will be used for the shoot. The Blackbird display, as you can see, has been prettied up, as the fluorescent lights are not there at any other time.

Another image he provided me was of Mr. Bay's private jet, which was on the runway at the center. The plane has an Autobot logo on it, which the image doesn't show too well, but he assured me it was there.

An interesting photo that he provided me he has not been able to give a detailed account of was a shot of two cranes of different colors right next to each other. Each one has a line running from the bucket of the crane to the ground. What does that mean? I'm not sure, but I'll get a recount from Akhil as soon as I can.

Akhil also said he believes they were trying to put more astronaut uniforms and NASA-related props closer to the Blackbird. That is most likely just some Hollywood magic though, as mostly everything in the hanger is nicely spaced, and Mr. Bay just wanted to fill the area up a little bit.
Filming included in front of the Blackbird as well as near the space shuttle replica.

Hopefully I'll be able to catch up with Akhil soon so he can provide us some more first-hand information on the shoot he saw today.
