Transformers 2 Princeton Filming Info; New Bike Spotted

By bwbm on Tuesday, June 24, 2008

So a plethora of information is coming out of the Princeton, New Jersey shoot of "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen," which is currently ongoing.

First, a never-before-seen motorcycle has been spotted at the film's base camp. The vehicle is mainly red with a yellow piece by the rider. The Transformes Live Action Movie Blog, which also has the images, believes it is an Aprilia RS 50 and not one of the six RetroSBK custom motorcycles.

What do you guys think?

The motorcycle does not have a license plate and was snapped before being loaded onto a trailer by the crew member pictured.

Next, the silver Saturn Astra 5-door seen running around Philadelphia, PA has made an appearance in Princeton.

TLAMB has a set report from a person who witnessed a scene being shot of this vehicle. Line breaks are mine for easier reading:

I work in Princeton and just watched the TF2 crew crash a silver Saturn Astra into the installed lamppost on the corner of Washington Road and William Street around 2 p.m. today.

Before the crash itself they ran a few "test crashes," where the stunt driver screeched to a halt a foot or two before hitting the post, with the camera (on a boom) following the action from above.

The actual crash knocked the ground-level cover off the post and ripped off the car's front bumper. After the crash the driver backed up slightly, then drove forward again for a few feet with the bumper under the front wheels, then stopped, opened the driver's side door, and fell to the ground.

After the shot was over, the driver put the bumper in the car's backseat and drove the car down Washington Road (headed south), and as it passed me I could see that the front windshield had a hole the size of a baseball in it (with the appropriate spider webbing pattern in the surrounding glass). I'm not sure if that was there before the crash or not (I was about two blocks away from the crash itself). According to one of the PA's the next shot won't happen until tonight, though she didn't say where.

Images by "mycine" of the vehicle depict Shia LaBeouf sitting in the vehicle, so could it possibly be that he's responsible for driving around this bullet-hole ridden smashed up vehicle in the film?

Also, there are seven videos in total of the Saturn Astra driving down a street in town with the "Go-Kart" following it. Not too much happens in these videos, but you can view them below.

The Go-Kart, as spotlighted in an extra on the "Transformers" DVD, is a vehicle with a low ground clearance with a camera attached, which is used for low view shots by Director Michael Bay in the film.

According to J Fuller of Monster Mania, the principal photography will take place there until Wednesday, June 25th.
